All settings of SiUX are done via client website provided by client server.
Access to this website is protected by login and password for each user of the system.
Each client (company) can create as much accounts as needed to provide perfect control who is doing what and to have all the contacts inside the system.
Thats not our goal to create as much user accounts as possible, thats for clients comfort and overview of things done in system.
Basic functions of SiUX can be separated in two efficient groups
The first functional block are the settings of the tests. In this context administration website provides possibilities to set what and how should be monitored.
In the second part client can set up the way SiUX will recognize errors or warnings and tell SiUX how to decide over the results of the measuring if someone should be informed about new stat or not.

Monitored resources grouping
Larger companies will probably need to monitor more than one site or one service and thats why SiUX can hold single services in groups. Client can set group of websites, group of smtp servers etc.. Then it is easy to set one style of testing to whole group and not only one service by one. This grouping can really simplify the administration of greater count of services.
User error settings
Each client assumes each state differently. For one is error if server response takes more than 1 second, another doesnt care if server is responding 5 seconds or sometimes returns real error. Thats why SiUX allows each client to specify his own errors and error levels.
In the beginning client defines his own error levels like notice, warning, error, fatal error and then he can set testing conditions to match and be reported. Client can set as many errors as needed and also so much error levels as well. These settings offer possibility to create really precise test settings.
Contact settings
So far SiUX knows how and what to monitor, knows what to mark as error and also knows the error level of each state. Whats left is to tell it who should be informed and when.
To do that, SiUX must be provided with contacts to the proper persons who should know about upcoming troubles. SiUX can contact clients IT staff by SMS, ICQ or other instant messenger, or email. SiUX also generates RSS/RDF feed which can be used as sidebar to Firefox browser.

User reporting filters
in previous settings we set almost all the information SiUX needed to start really useful monitoring and the last setting is to decide when should SiUX send what reports and to whom. We inserted all the contacts to the persons responsible to the proper run of the services, but it makes no sense to send all the information to all of them all the time. Thats why SiUX uses time filters and contact grouping. Clients IT staff can be managed to few groups responsible to different services etc and SiUX can send the reports only to the right person. The persons can be also changed during the daytime or weekday. To make these settings a bit less complicated SiUX uses time plan templates which can be applied to any new person coming. These settings might seem a bit complicated but they offer as much freedom as possible to set the filtering of the communication.
After all the setting mentioned above SiUX is ready to start the real game of monitoring and report all the problem to the right people. For the first time is the initial setting of the system a bit complicated but once youve defined your sources and groups, your common time plans and errors is everything really simple.
